Help for veterans
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946, 1390 Broadway, has been serving the needs of veterans and their families for more than 62 years and welcomes any veteran whose service included combat or a combat operation. ‘Blue Christmas’ service
Many people are grieving and find it hard to put that sadness aside to get into the holiday spirit. There is a place that helps keep sadness and grief from feeling awkward and unwelcome. A ‘Blue Christmas’ service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Merced United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Pkwy.

The Calaveras Big Trees Association will hold its Winter Wonderlandt, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 27. Activities include a scenic wagon ride inside the park, crafts for kids, music, hot cocoa, apple cider and cookies. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, and $8.50 for children under 12.
