Pruning workshop

The Atwater Garden Club is offering a free rose pruning workshop from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Bloss Memorial Rose Garden gazebo at Cedar and First Street in Atwater. The demonstration will be by master gardener Georgeanne Adamny. Refreshments at 9:30 a.m. Bring pruning shears and gloves, and dress warm. Enter a free drawing. Church celebration

The 26th Annual Santo Nino de Cebu celebration begins at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Livingston. After Mass, there will be a procession to the church reception hall. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Food and entertainment representing the Filipino culture will complete the celebration. Tickets will be sold at the door only. Adults are $7; ages 7 to 12 are $3. Church luncheon

Atwater Baptist Church will hold its monthly Keen-Agers luncheon at noon Jan. 15 in the church’s Fellowship Hall. A special panel discussion will be held to discuss the options for elder care. Guest presenters will be Aimie Marchini of Park Merced, Kathy Wagner of Atwater Day Break, and Lindsay Lamerson from Lamerson Landy Home Care. The community is encouraged to attend. Buhach Colony Crab feast

Buhach Colony Music Boosters will hold their ninth annual Crab Feast at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 1. There will be dancing until midnight with a live and silent auction. It will be held at the Merced County Fairgrounds Pavilion building. Tickets are $45 per person or $320 for a table of eight. Help sought for vets

Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be DAV volunteer drivers. Volunteering to drive a vet ensures that even those living remotely from VA hospitals can make their appointments and not go without treatment.
