Town hall meetings
The Merced City Council will host a series of town hall meetings. One will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at Rivera Middle School, 945 Buena Vista Drive. Another one will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at Tenaya Middle School, 760 W. Eighth St. The meetings will be streamed live on the internet. A link to the meeting is on the city’s homepage at www.cityofmerced.org. The city will also add video of the meetings to YouTube for people that are unable to watch it live. These services are in addition to the live broadcast of the meeting on Comcast’s Channel 96.
Indian Gulch runs
The 38th Annual Indian Gulch 2-mile, 5-mile and 10-mile runs are scheduled for March 8. The runs are hosted by the Merced Running Club. Proceeds benefit the UC Merced running program. Run the foothills surrounded by wildflowers and finish off with continental breakfast at the Golden Stag Hall in Hornitos. Check-in and race-day registration is from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. All races start at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $22 for those who preregister, $20 for running club members and $25 for those who register on race day. Atwater High reunion
Atwater High School Class of 1984’s reunion is being held at the Merced Country Club, 6333 N Golf Road, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. July 5. Those planning to attend must RSVP by June 30. A drive-thru pasta-to-go dinner will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Italo-American Lodge, 1351 W. 18th St. Sponsored by the Committee to Elect Tony Dossetti to Merced County District 3 Supervisor. Stone Ridge Christian High School is holding a meeting from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 5 for eighth-grade visitations. All students currently in the eighth grade are welcome to attend and “shadow” a student who is attending the school. This helps to gives students a “feel” for high school and a chance to meet a few Stone Ridge students. The school is at 500 Buena Vista Drive.
