The body of a 27-year-old man was found Saturday morning in the Merced River, in the Ballico area, the Merced County Sheriff's Department reported.
The victim has been identified as Joshua Myers, according to the coroner's office. Deputy Delray Shelton, sheriff's spokesman, said the cause of death has not been determined, pending autopsy.
The body was found just east of the Cressey bridge.
Myers was last seen on Wednesday, and witnesses said he was apparently planning on camping out near the river.
His family members became concerned, however, after they received notice Friday that his car had been towed from the area of Alves and Campodonica roads.
The family notified law enforcement Friday, and the sheriff's department's Search and Rescue Team responded to the area. The team found the Myer's body Saturday morning in the water, near an embankment
