Around Town for Feb. 13, 2014

The Yosemite Kennel Club is holding a dog obedience class at 11 a.m. beginning on March 1 at Applegate Park in Merced. The class is six weeks long, covers basic obedience, and includes a Canine Good Citizen class. Dogs must be at least four months old, and all breeds or mixed-breed dogs are welcome. The class aims to teach dogs to heel on a loose leash, sit, lie down, stay and come when called, along with having good manners. The cost is $70 for the six-week course, or $50 for dogs adopted from an animal shelter or a nonprofit rescue organization. For more, call (209) 631-0484.
