Bike Blessing

The Sons of Thunder will hold the 11th annual Bike Blessing on April 19. Sign-in is 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts at Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave. The ride will be through the foothills to Henderson Park in Snelling. There will be a barbecue, live music, bike show T-shirts and pins available. This is a free event. Polenta and chicken

The Italian Catholic Federation will have a polenta and chicken dinner from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Italo-American Lodge, 18th and U streets. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7.50 for children under 12 years old. Get take-out available at the kitchen door. Church luncheon

“You’re Never Too Young” is the theme for the Keen-Agers Luncheon at noon Wednesday at Atwater Baptist Church, 2124 First St. The speakers will be Chaplain Steve Heath and Shirley Johnson. Free and open to everyone. Feel free to bring a favorite lunch item to share.

Sierra Club meeting

Merced Sierra Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, 899 Yosemite Park Way. Jane Wagner-Tyack will speak about the Bay-Delta Conservation Plan. Call (209) 723-4747 for more information.

Child Support Services workshop

The Merced County Department of Child Support Services will hold workshops to assist parents with modifying their child support and to explain the Compromise of Arrears Program and assist with the application process. The workshops will be 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at 3368 N. Hwy. 59, Suite 1. Call (209) 381-1329 for more information.

Kiddieland Train opening

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Merced will kick off the opening of Kiddieland with the Race to the Kiddieland Train, a 2-mile walk/run and a 5-mile run from 8 to 11 a.m. on March 29 at Applegate Park. Dave Luna from KABX will be there, T-shirts will be available and the proceeds will go to Kiwanis projects. Kiddieland will open at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5p.m. Sundays for the 2014 season. Call (209) 385-6232 or email for more information.
