Merced police: Gunfire heard, but victim not found

A shooting was reported at 10:46 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of West 11th Street, in an alleyway between West 11th and 12th streets, Merced police reported.
Sgt. Jay Struble said two men were heard arguing, and one pulled a gun. The gunman fired five rounds at the other person, who ran away. The gunman got into a small green car and drove away.
Police responded to the scene but have not located the gunman or the victim. Struble said a parked vehicle was struck by the gunfire.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call (209) 385-4702 or the department’s automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Tips are kept confidential and callers can remain anonymous.
