VFW breakfast

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Atwater will hold its monthly breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on April 6 at 1390 Broadway. Cost is $4 to $6. On the menu: waffles with strawberries and cream, or biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs cooked to order and bacon or sausage, hash browns and a biscuit. All proceeds go to veterans programs.

Lions Club dinner

The Atwater-Winton Lions Club will hold its Charity Roundup surf and turf, ribeye steak and shrimp dinner at 6 p.m. April 12 at the Atwater Community Center, 760 E. Bellevue Road. Be prepared for disaster

SPCA looking for members

The Merced Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is launching a membership drive. There are various types of annual memberships and businesses are encouraged to join. The Merced SPCA is a no-kill, nonprofit organization run by volunteers, donations and fundraisers with no support from any outside agency. The shelter is at 1021 E. Childs Ave. and open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call (209) 384-7722 for more information.

VFW post home available to rent

The Atwater VFW club hall is available for rent for parties. It holds 150 people and has a full-service kitchen. Call (209) 358-7224.
