UC Merced held an open house Saturday for prospective students, their families and anybody interested in the university during its annual Bobcat Day festivities. The university scheduled 10 hours of workshops, tours and mingling for past, current and prospective students. It started at 10 a.m. at Scholars Lane and Ansel Adams Road, two thoroughfares on the campus. Guided tours were conducted every 30 minutes and continued throughout the day. The grassy quad in front of the library was home to clubs and organizations for much of the day, giving admitted students and those considering their options a chance to know what the campus offers. The Student Alumni Association plans time for alumni to speak about their experience in the city of Merced. A reunion for the university’s “founding classes” – the first reunion held on Bobcat Day – was conducted for graduates from 2006-2009, the first four to graduate.
