A teenage girl with an undisclosed mental illness ran away earlier this week from her Mariposa home and might be in Merced, the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.
Kaiwi Murdock, 16, ran away about 8 p.m. Sunday and has not been seen since, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Her cellphone was tracked at 2:31 p.m. Thursday in the area of T and 20th streets in Merced, the Sheriff’s Department said, but there was no indication in their statement that anyone saw Murdock.
Deputies said Murdock has “ties” to the Sacramento area.
Investigators described Murdock as Pacific Islander, 5-foot, 11-inches tall, weighing about 230 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information on the missing teenager’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Department at (209) 966-3615 or (800) 774-8314.
