The 9th Annual Veterans Memorial-Support the Troops Run will be at 9 a.m. Saturday starting at Merced Power Sports, 265 W. 15th St. This is a free event, but participants are asked to bring a donation for care packages for troops overseas. Merced Symphony spring concert
The Merced Symphony will perform the last concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakireddy Auditorium at UC Merced. On the program: Carmen Ballet by Shchedrin, Holberg Suite by Grieg and the world premiere of Concerto for saxophone, trombone and percussion” by Kate Janzen, led by Lorraine Walsh. The UC Merced Chorale will sing excerpts from Gloria. Tickets are $35 for adults and $10, students. Call (209) 383-3277 for more information.
Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event will start at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Don Odishoo Stadium at Merced College, 3600 M St. Survivors receive a free T-shirt when they register. The luninaria walk, in honor of those touched by cancer, will be at 7 p.m. Call (209) 756-4137 for more information.
The Central Valley Chapter of the Filipino American National Historical Society will have its Spring Picnic at noon Saturday at Veterans Cove at Lake Yosemite. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students with identification and $5 for children ages 8-12. Children younger than 7 get in free.
