Planada Community Day

Letter Carrier Food Drive

The National Letter Carrier Food Drive will take place on May 10. People are asked to place canned or dried food items by their mailboxes by 9 a.m. Their postal carrier will pick up the donations, which go to area food banks.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

The Odd Fellows of LaFayette Historical Lodge No. 65 will serve its Mother’s Day Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 11 at the IOOF Hall in downtown La Grange. Tickets are $6. The meal includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs any style, country-fried potatoes, French toast, coffee and juice. Call (209) 853-2128.

Garden Club Spring Tour

The Merced Garden Club will hold its Spring Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14, with six gardens open. Tickets are $15. Call (209) 639-5626 for more information.

Hunting, fishing show

The Sportsmen’s Club will hold a wildlife and sporting antique hunting and fishing show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17 and 18 at 13989 Mercey Springs Road in Los Banos. Bring items for free appraisals. Admission is $5 for adults, and children under 12 are free. There will be food and drink available for purchase. Call (559) 259-5755 for more information.

Kids fish, swim and play

The 15th annual “Kids’ Fish, Swim and Play Day” will be held for children ages 3 to 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17 at the San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area. Bring a picnic lunch. Summer workshops

Concealed weapons classes
