Learning and leisure

A wide array of lifelong learning and leisure activity classes are available during May through Merced College’s Community Services Office. Spring Concert in Atwater

Atwater High School will host its Spring Concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Buhach Colony High School Theatre, 1800 N. Buhach Road.

Benefit dinner for rescue

The Merced County Rescue Mission will host its Oasis Benefit Dinner 2014 at 6 p.m. May 16 at Gateway Community Church, 353 E. Donna Drive. Tickets are $35 per person or you can sponsor a table of eight for $250. All proceeds will help the Rescue Mission make it through the summer months. Tribute to Johnny Cash

Habitat seeks volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County is looking for people with construction experience, and willing hearts and hands to work on short-term projects for senior and handicapped residents. There will be an orientation at 7 p.m. May 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Outreach Ministry Center, 2916 N. McKee Road.

Veterans Craft Fair

The American Legion Post 83 in Merced will host its annual Spring-Summer Veterans Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 31 in downtown Merced. Booths are available for $45 each and proceeds will benefit local veterans’ needs and the preservation of the historic Veterans Memorial Building. For more information, email jackperry@alr83.org.

SCORE some assistance

SCORE is a national nonprofit organization that provides no-cost counseling to small businesses. The group is joining the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce to provide this service to anyone needing business counseling.
