Golden Valley High School’s production of “The Music Man,” which started Thursday and runs through Sunday, is one of the largest in campus history.
The play, being performed in the school theater near East Childs Avenue, involves the combined efforts of the drama and music departments. Principal Constantino Aguilar said students from different academic disciplines are involved in the show, along with the school’s orchestra.
“It’ll be a great show,” Aguilar said. “A lot of kids are involved, which is our goal. It’s the largest production in the school’s history.”
Director Matt Thomas said work on “The Music Man” began in February. After last year’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie,” additional interest in being part of this play quickly built among students.
“It’s been a really neat project,” Thomas said. “It’s awesome. It’s even bigger (than last year) and we’ve had more kids show up. At Golden Valley, this is starting to be the thing to do in the spring.”
The play starts at 7 p.m. today and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 for students and children, and $7 for adults. Tickets are available at the door.
