Family Kite Day
Family Kite Day will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pacheco State Park. There will be other activities, including a “Make Your Own Kite Free” table, free face painting, pie-eating contests and bubble-gum-blowing competitions. The only fee is the $10 per-car state park day use fee. For more information, go to www.parks.ca.gov/events and choose Pacheco State Park.
The Valley Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2877 Atwater Blvd. in Atwater, and the Merced Flea and Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St.; EBT is accepted at both. The Merced Certified Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 19th and N streets in Merced.
The R-Bar hosts an 8-ball competition every Wednesday night at 1603 V St. Sign-ups are at 6 p.m., and the game starts at 7 p.m. Twenty players are accepted, with a $5 buy-in. R-Bar is located at 1603 V St.
Buhach Farmers Market
The Buhach Farmers Market is open every Monday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4814 Clover Ave. Take the Buhach Exit off of Highway 99.
Le Grand Farmers Market
The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays on Washington Street and Le Grand Road, next to Pizza Factory.
Summer arts classes

Star Club jam session
A jam session is scheduled to happen from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Star Club, 1331 W. Main St., Merced. There is no cover charge. You must be at least 21 years old to enter.
Ready for Change will present the Humanitarian Awards at 5 p.m. June 28 at First Baptist Church, 500 Buena Vista Drive. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Local nonprofit organizations and individuals will be acknowledged for their community service. General admission is $10, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit children. Sailing club shrimp feed
The Lake Yosemite Sailing Club will hold its annual all-you-can-eat shrimp feed and open house from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Yosemite clubhouse. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 6 to 12. The meal is shrimp, pasta, salad, bread and nonalcoholic beverages. Breakfast in Snelling
Snelling will host its final scheduled breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the IOOF Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults; children 3 and younger are free. The meal includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, coffee and juice. For more information, call (209) 563-6344.
Live gospel music
Julie Eichelberger will present “Julie-N-Friends,” an evening of gospel music, at 6 p.m. June 29 at the Christian Life Center, 650 E. Olive Ave. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken. The Regents Quarter, Lisa Daggs, Jennifer Whitlock, Erin Cordova, Bridge of Grace, the One Accord Quartet and Peggy Huie also will perform. For more information, call (559) 304-1102.
