20-year-old man injured in drive-by shooting

A 20-year-old man suffered a minor gunshot wound to the leg during a drive-by shooting reported Tuesday night in Merced.
The incident was reported near Ninth and D streets after 8 p.m., according to police Sgt. Alan Ward.
No suspects are in custody.
According to police, the occupants of a red or burgundy 1980s model Honda or Toyota fired gunshots at the victim and another person.
Witnesses told police the victim had run into an apartment after the shooting. The victim could not be immediately located, and officers later learned he left the area before they arrived at the scene.
The victim was contacted by officers hours later when he came back to the apartment and called for medical assistance.
