Merced College is offering a new social media course for certification. The online class runs from July 14 through August 24. The training course is available through Merced College’s Community Services program, which is recognized as a National Institute for Social Media-approved training partner and testing center. The Horatio Alger Cortopassi Family Foundation is offering vocational scholarships for community college students. Students can receive $2,500 per semester, up to a maximum of $10,000. Applicants must live in Merced, Stanislaus, Madera or San Joaquin counties; be no older than 25; demonstrate financial need with a financial aid award letter; and be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent. Pregnant women’s shelter
JMJ Maternity Homes, a faith-based 501(c)3 organization, provides homeless pregnant women with shelter, resources and support services in a nurturing Christian environment. Maternity and resident programs provide support services to facilitate prenatal and postpartum health, counseling, case management, food, clothing and more. Arbor Gallery will hold its fourth free art demonstration of the year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. The featured artist will be Jackie Anderson, a local artist and member of the Arbor Gallery. Disabled American Veterans seeks volunteers
If you want to help veterans, Disabled American Veterans is looking for men and women to be volunteer drivers. Volunteering to drive a vet ensures that even those who live some distance from VA hospitals can make their appointments and not go without the treatment they need.
