Merced police arrest one, look for two more for robbery

A man who visited a prostitute says he was shaken down late Thursday in a Merced hotel.

Merced police arrested a Merced woman and are seeking a man and another woman in connection with an alleged strong-armed robbery on Thursday.

After receiving a call at 10:07 p.m., police said, officers met a man who said he had been robbed after soliciting a prostitute at the Siesta Hotel in the 1300 block of West 16th Street.

Officers said the victim met a woman at the hotel, paid her and then followed her into a room. A second woman, who was hiding inside, stepped out and demanded more money from the man, police said.

The victim refused, police said, and one of the women made a phone call. Shortly after, police said, a man entered the room and assaulted the victim, holding him down while the women rifled his pockets. They took his wallet and cell phone.

Officers said they identified Sheeley Lo, 30, as one of the women. She was arrested and booked at Merced County Jail for strong-armed robbery, in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police said the victim was unable to identify the man or the other woman.

Merced police are asking anyone with any information to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-6913 or (209) 385-4702, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at (209) 385-4725. Individuals can send anonymous text messages to the police department by dialing TIP411 (847411) and including “Comvip” as the keyword in the text message.
