Summer arts classes

The Merced Multicultural Art Center offers many classes this summer at 645 W. Main St. on the third floor. For more information, tuition prices and classes offered, call (209) 388-1090 or email programs@artsmerced.org.

Live music at Star Club

Live music is scheduled at the Star Club from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, 1331 W. Main St., Merced. There is no cover charge. You must be at least 21 to enter.

Dance class

Nightclub Two Step dance classes will be held on Thursdays for six weeks, beginning July 24 in the ballroom at the Senior Community Center. The beginners class will be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. and the intermediate class, 8 to 8:45 p.m. Cost is $25 for the whole session or $5 per class, plus a $1 per class supply fee, which can be paid to the instructors. Jazz Trio to perform

The Mikel Soria Jazz Trio is scheduled to perform from 7 to 9 p.m. July 25 at Vista Ranch and Cellars, 7326 Highway 140. The group is also scheduled to play at Strings Italian Cafe, 731 E. Yosemite Ave., 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and July 26.

Yosemite Music Festival

The Yosemite Music Festival is scheduled from noon to midnight July 11-12 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, 5007 Fairgrounds Road, Mariposa. Scheduled performers include Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man, Atomic Sherpas, Mountain Men, Haunted Windchimes, Cottonwood Creek and Good Luck Thrift Store Outfit. Cottonwood Creek on tap

Country band Cottonwood Creek has a full lineup of shows scheduled for this month. The group is scheduled to perform 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cru Wine Company, 20146 Road 21 in Madera, and July 12 at Yosemite Music Festival (formerly Carter Ranch) in Mariposa at the fairgrounds. Merced Art Hop

Artists representing a multitude of modes and genres will take over downtown Merced on July 19, as the Art Hop once again provides a night of entertainment for the entire family. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and end at 9 on West Main Street, between I and N streets. The next Art Hop event is scheduled for Oct. 18. For more information, visit mercedarthop.org.

‘Menopause the Musical’

“Menopause the Musical” is scheduled to be shown at 3 and 7 p.m. July 26 at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. in downtown Merced. For more information and tickets, visit tickets.mercedtheatre.org.

Grateful Dead Meet-Up

The Grateful Dead’s Beat Club studio performance from 1972 in its entirety. Songs include “Sugaree,” “Playing in the Band” and more, 7:30 p.m. July 17 at Hollywood Mainplace Theater, 403 W. Main St. in downtown Merced.

A jam session is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Star Club, 1331 W. Main St., Merced. There is no cover charge. You must be at least 21 to enter.

Foreverland in Merced

Foreverland, a 14-piece tribute band dedicated to the music of Michael Jackson, is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Merced Theatre, 301 W. Main St. Tickets went on sale Tuesday. For more information, visit tickets.mercedtheatre.org.

Kenny Rogers in Merced
