Yosemite Music Festival

The Yosemite Music Festival continues today until midnight at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, 5007 Fairgrounds Road, Mariposa. Winton Educational Foundation

The newly formed nonprofit, Winton Educational Foundation, is seeking Winton residents and individuals to take part in its efforts to improve educationof students, increase economic development and provide referral services to the community. The organization meets the first and third Thursday of the month. Merced County farmers markets

The Valley Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2877 Atwater Blvd. in Atwater, and the Merced Flea and Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the fairgrounds, 900 G St. EBT is accepted at both. The Merced Certified Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 19th and N streets in Merced. The Buhach Farmers Market is open every Monday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4814 Clover Ave. The Le Grand Certified Farmers Market runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays on Washington Street and Le Grand Road, next to Pizza Factory.

Center accepting groups

Merced is looking for groups to operate the McNamara Park Community Center and provide youth programming and other activities. Groups can use the building at no cost; the city will pay for utilities. To qualify, applicants must have 501(c)(3) status, be able to provide $1 million in insurance and have been in existence for at least six months. A joint application by two or more groups is acceptable. The deadline for applications is noon July 31. Social media class

Merced College is offering a new social media course for certification. The online class runs from July 14 through Aug. 24. The training course is available through Merced College’s Community Services program, which is recognized as a National Institute for Social Media-approved training partner and testing center. The Merced Breakfast Lions Club maintains drop-off locations for used and unused prescription eyeglasses or hearing aids at the offices of Drs. David Baba, Paul Smith or Jeffrey Lee; the Save Mart at Olive Avenue and G Street; or the optical department of Costco. Scholarships available

The Horatio Alger Cortopassi Family Foundation is offering vocational scholarships for community college students. Students can receive $2,500 per semester up to a maximum of $10,000. Applicants must live in Merced, Stanislaus, Madera or San Joaquin counties; be no older than 25; demonstrate financial need with a financial aid award letter; and be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent.
