A mother and daughter from Merced were jailed over the weekend after nearly a pound of suspected methamphetamine was found in their home, police said.
Cynthia Devaurs, 51, and her daughter, Tiffany, 31, were booked at Merced County Jail on Saturday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, a felony. Both women posted bail later that day and were released, according to booking records.
They were arrested just before 10 a.m. at their home in the 1300 block of West 19th Street after officers found nearly 12 ounces of suspected methamphetamine, the Merced Police Department said in a news release.
Police had “obtained information regarding possible drug activity at the residence” and served a search warrant, investigators said in the news release.
Efforts to reach both women by telephone Monday were unsuccessful.
The investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Robert Solis of the Merced Police Department at (209) 385-4703 or the tip line at (209) 385-4725.
