From badminton to belly dancing and fencing to community theater, Merced College is offering more than a dozen community service classes that begin in August.
Merced College Community Services provides area residents with opportunities for non-credit classes, some of which include field trips.
The Community Theatre Play Production Class plans to hold auditions for its production of Lanford Wilson’s “The Rimers of Eldritch” beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 5.
Performances are planned at the Mariposa County Park Amphitheater in Mariposa, where auditions will also take place. The production has 10 female roles and seven male roles.
Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 4, 10 and 11, as well as 2 p.m. Oct. 12.
As a production class, there are roles for actors, technicians and managers, according to a news release.
The more than 12 other classes include dance, art, sports, fitness and excursion courses that begin between Aug. 2 and 19. The classes cost between $20 and $99, and some require an additional materials fee.
Play director Fred Friedland can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
