A man who Fresno police say is responsible for robbing a Merced Rite Aid and committing three armed robberies in Fresno was booked at the Fresno County jail this week.

Ramon Guizar, 32, was taken into custody Monday after the street violence tactical team followed him to an apartment in the 3200 block of West Shields Avenue.

Sgt. Jerardo Chamalbide said Guizar was identified as the suspect in the following crimes:

• A July 22 robbery at a Rite Aid drugstore in the 3200 block of G Street in Merced.
• A June 26 robbery at the Family Christian Store in the 3000 block of West Shaw Avenue, where the bandit selected a greeting card, took it to the counter, presented a note demanding cash, took the money and fled the store.
• A June 28 attempted robbery at a CVS Pharmacy in the 2000 block of West Shaw Avenue, where the bandit selected a Gatorade and ordered a cookies and cream treat before lifting his shirt to display a handgun to the clerk, who told the suspect the cash drawer could not be opened. The suspect ran from the store.
• A July 15 robbery at a Walgreens in the 2400 block of North Brawley Avenue, where the bandit walked to the register, pulled out a handgun, and demanded and took cash.

Fresno, Kerman and Merced police worked to identify Guizar and develop information on his whereabouts, Chamalbide said. He was taken into custody without incident.
