Merced police say they are investigating an alleged robbery reported Sunday evening in the 2900 block of G Street.
The victim told police he saw a woman standing in a parking lot, waving a set of brake cables, according to a Merced police press release.
According to the victim, he thought the woman was having car trouble. However, the victim claims that after he approached the woman, she pulled out a small handgun. The victim also reported that a man carrying a broken bottle exited the vehicle and began threatening him.
The victim claims the man swung the broken bottle at him, cutting his face. The robbers allegedly took the man’s wallet and left the scene in a black Crown Victoria.
Officers said they were unable to find witnesses to verify the man’s story.
