A 16-year-old boy is expected to survive after being injured late Sunday night in a drive-by shooting.
No suspects are in custody.
The shooting was reported about 11:45 p.m. near I and Prusso streets, Livingston Police Chief Ruben Chavez told the Merced Sun-Star.
The boy, who admits to being a gang member, was walking when a white Honda carrying a driver and a passenger approached. One of the occupants fired at the boy, striking him in the shoulder, Chavez said.
The occupants of the vehicle fled the area.
After police responded and secured the crime scene, emergency personnel treated the boy and transported him to a regional hospital.
