Felon arrested in Merced for 3 pounds of pot, stolen gun

A 27-year-old convicted felon was recently arrested on suspicion of possession of 3 pounds of marijuana and a handgun.

A 27-year-old convicted felon was recently arrested on suspicion of possession of 3 pounds of marijuana and a handgun.

Suspect Ronnell Jones was arrested Friday by Merced police, according to a department press release.

Two days prior to Jones’ arrest, the police department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit and the state Division of Adult Parole Operations conducted a parole search of a residence in the 1200 block of Brightday Drive in Merced. During the search officers found a stolen firearm and about three pounds of marijuana. Jones wasn’t home at the time of the search Wednesday, but was tracked down Friday.

Jones was booked at the Merced County jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a loaded stolen firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of stolen property and possession of stolen property for sale.
