Fire hits vacant Atwater home; investigation continues

A fire damaged a vacant home in Atwater over the weekend, police reported Monday.

The fire was reported at 10:15 p.m. Sunday at 880 Cedar Ave., fire officials said.

When Cal Fire crews arrived, they discovered that the air-conditioning unit on the roof was on fire. It was quickly extinguished, according to police.

An investigation into what triggered the fire is continuing.
