Two Livingston teachers, who are also outdoor enthusiasts, will get a chance to share their love of nature with TV watchers in the Valley and across the nation.
Susan Neu and Kelly Carr have been chosen to participate on Live Well Network's "Motion." The show, starring Greg Aiello, explores various wonders across North America and many of the roads-less-traveled. The show also airs Saturday afternoons on ABC 30's high definition channel.
The episode with Neu and Carr will feature the John Muir Trail, a 212-mile trail following the spine of the Sierra Nevada, from Yosemite to the top of Mt. Whitney, which is the highest peak in the continental United States at 14,495 feet. The group will hike the first half of the trail from south to north, a total journey of 135 miles.
The Livingston teachers will join Aiello, five others selected to be part of the team, as well as the trip guides and the "Motion" crew during the second week of September.
The episode is scheduled to air early this fall.
The fourth and fifth graders in Neu's and Carr's classes have been learning about John Muir and how his efforts in the early 1900s helped preserve Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia parks. Neu was picked as 2009 Merced County Teacher of the Year.
