A 34-year-old Los Banos man was arrested Sunday after leading Los Banos police and California Highway Patrol Officers on a high-speed pursuit.
The pursuit began about 3:44 p.m. in the area of Overland Avenue and Mercey Springs Road, according to Los Banos Police Sgt. Zina Holden.
Police noticed the suspect's car matched a call from earlier Sunday, where officers had responded to the 700 block of Skylark Avenue regarding a report of an armed person. Officers also noticed the driver of the car, Daniel Serna, wasn't wearing a seat belt. The car also had no front license plate, Holden said.
Officers tried to pull over Serna's car, but he refused to stop and sped away. Los Banos police and the California Highway Patrol pursued Serna through Los Banos and into the unincorporated county areas.
The CHP took over the pursuit at 4:14 p.m. and the suspect eventually stopped on the eastbound side of the California Aqueduct, east of Highway 165. Serna was finally detained by law enforcement at 4:31 p.m, Holden said.
Serna will be booked at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of failing to yield to law enforcement, in addition to being a felon in possession of ammunition and narcotics.
