A couple was robbed at gunpoint near a park late Sunday night, police said.
According to law enforcement, a 27-year-old woman came to the Police Department to report a robbery at 11:02 p.m.
The woman told officers she was in a car with a male near Jo Lin Park in the 200 block of Ward Road. Two Latino men who appeared to be in their 20s and wearing dark clothing approached the vehicle. The men yanked open the passenger and driver’s side doors open, pointed guns at the pair and ordered them to hand over their belongings.
Police said the couple’s cellphones and a wallet were taken, according to a news release.
The robbers fled the area on foot and were last seen headed west on Greenbriar Drive, police said. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the robbers’ descriptions.
The incident remains under investigation.
