The Los Banos Salvation Army welcomed guests from Fresno Sunday as the nonprofit celebrated being able to provide more assistance on the Westside.
A dedication ceremony was held recognizing the Salvation Army's transition from an outpost to a corps, meaning that the national organization believes that there are a substantial number of people in need in and surrounding Los Banos.
Located on Fourth Street, the Salvation Army helps hundreds of people each week with food and other types of assistance. On Sunday, the Lt. Colonel Stephen Smith, a Salvation Army division commander and the Fresno Citadel Band were among those in town celebrating the Los Banos corps' new designation.
Songs, testimonials, scripture readings and food were part of the ceremony.
Never miss a local story.
More on the Salvation Army's new role will appear in the Enterprise Friday.
