The Los Banos High girls basketball team tied with Central Catholic for second place in the Western Athletic Conference after defeating both CC and Central Valley last week.
The Sac-Joaquin Section rewarded the Tigers with the 11th seed in the Division 4 playoffs. The Tigers (18-10) will travel to No. 6 Bret Harte (23-4), the Mother Lode League champion, on Tuesday. Game time is at 7 p.m.
“Don’t know much about them yet. I’m still trying to gather information or video from our common opponents,” Los Banos coach Danny Crosby said. “We both played against Ceres and Mariposa. They have a couple of guards that are high-scoring. But beyond that, I have not a clue.”
The 11th seed was about where Crosby expected the Tigers to land.
“I’m pretty sure they’re a really good team, so we’ll definitely have our hands full,” Crosby said. “Their schedule was not as tough as ours – we played a tough schedule. I’ve been up there before with my son’s team and with Le Grand, and it’s a tough place to play.”
Los Banos survived a determined Central Valley team in a 49-45 victory on Feb. 13, clinching a playoff spot in the process, and finished the regular season with Tuesday’s 65-50 victory over Livingston to finish 8-4 in league play, tied with Central Catholic, which lost 39-35 to Ceres the same night.
