The Spring Downtown Street Faire will bring hundreds of shoppers, lookie-loos and walkers to Los Banos in April.
There may, however, be fewer sellers.
“Our typical time is April 18, April 19. We moved it up this year because of the Easter holiday. The vendors pretty much plan out their year in advance. A lot of our usual vendors we contacted said, ‘Oh, I already booked something on the 12th,’ ” said Bertha Faria, executive director of the Los Banos Chamber of Commerce.
As of Wednesday, 54 vendors had signed up, Faria said. The event typically boasts more than 100 vendors. Faria said the vendor application deadline has passed, but the chamber is still accepting applications for an additional fee.
Never miss a local story.
The chamber hosts a street fair in April and October, but it’s the one in the spring that typically draws the most people.
“The weather is nice,” chamber President Geneva Brett said of the spring fling.
Brett said the event reminds her of open-air markets from years gone by.
Annually, the street fair includes an array of hats, sunglasses, jewelry, dresses, purses, flip-flops, toys, paintings and food. The 2014 edition will also include train rides, health screenings and a fan-system manufacturer.
