A fire engulfed an abandoned home on the 800 block of E Street Monday.
Firefighters were still trying to determine if anyone was inside the residence Monday evening.
Fire Chief Chet Guintini said the fire was reported at 5:45 p.m. He said no firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze but he could not be sure if there were civilians that perished in the residence before the fire was extinguished.
Neighbors stood along E Street watching the home burn as emergency personnel battled the blaze. Some onlookers said they believed drug addicts who would congregate at the residence were responsible for the fire.
Monday evening, however, Guintini said it was too early in the investigation to name what caused the fire.
Three engines, a command vehicle and a water tender were used to fight the fire.
More information will appear in the Enterprise Friday.
