A bicycle traffic stop led to the recovery of stolen property, police said.

Sgt. Elias Reyes was on patrol in 700 block of E Street on Sunday at 12:10 p.m. when he saw a man riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the street. Police said the bicyclist rode away as Reyes attempted to stop him.

Reyes was eventually able to detain the bicyclist, identified as Allen Roy Bossard, 34, of Los Banos in the 500 block of Sixth Street.

Reyes allegedly located drug paraphernalia and a stolen iPad in Bossard’s possession. Police said the iPad was reported stolen Aug. 22 during a residential burglary.

Bossard was arrested on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine. Bossard is being held at the John Latorraca Correctional Center in lieu of $72,000 bail.

“Recovering stolen property and returning it to its rightful owner is always a rewarding feeling. This was just good old fashioned, boots on the ground police work and I commend Sgt. Reyes for his efforts,” said Cmdr. Jason Hedden.
