The Slope Fire, a lightning-caused fire near Harden Lake in Yosemite National Park, has grown to nearly 600 acres, Yosemite officials said.
The fire was spotted July 25 and has grown slowly over the last few days because of the type of vegetation and recent rains. Yosemite fire crews are managing the growth of the fire for ecological benefits.
The Harden Lake area and trail to Pate Valley from Harden Lake are closed. Fire crews will assess the trail near the lake today to determine when it can reopen to the public. The White Wolf trailhead to Pate Valley and Lukens Lake remain open.
Yosemite is working on the fire's management with the San Francisco Water Quality and Public Utilities Commission at Hetch Hetchy and the Tuolumne County Air Pollution Control District.
