A lightning-caused fire in Yosemite National Park has consumed 160 acres near Lake Vernon, approximately three miles north of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir.
The Vernon fire, spotted on Aug. 9, is being managed by fire officials. Moderate smoke from the fire is visible from the Hetch Hetchy area. The trail from Tiltill Valley Trail Junction to Lake Vernon is closed. The Tiltill Valley Trail remains open. No park facilities are threatened by the fire.
A cooling weather front will reach Yosemite this weekend, dropping temperatures to the high 70s.
