The Bureau of Land Management's Mother Lode Field Office is seeking volunteers to remove weeds near Midpines on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The project will target French broom, a fast-growing invasive weed that is relatively new to the Midpines area. Volunteers will use loggers to cut down a small patch of French broom on the western flanks of Feliciana Mountain. The weed has to be removed before it spreads into Bear Creek and the Merced River.
Volunteers should bring lunch and wear a hat, long pants, long-sleeve shirts, sturdy shoes and gloves. The Bureau of Land Management will provide loppers, eye protection and bottled water.
