Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicles on Highway 33 near Santa Nella

A 62-year-old man died near Santa Nella on Monday night after at least two vehicles hit him as he walked on Highway 33, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man, whose name was not released, was walking in the northbound lane of Highway 33 near Centinella Drive when the incident occurred at 9:30 p.m.
After a vehicle hit the man, the driver did not stop, authorities said. Several other cars also hit him. A 55-year-old from Manteca, driving a 1999 GMC, hit the man and stopped. The driver told authorities several other vehicles hit the man and drove on before traffic stopped.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound lane of Highway 33 was closed for 90 minutes while authorities investigated the incident.
Investigators ask anyone who might have seen the accident or who has information on the driver to call the Los Banos CHP office at (209) 826-3811.
