A large fire broke out west of downtown Merced on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, killing a family pet and displacing four people. The fire reported at about 4:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 19th Street, at the intersection with R Street, Merced Fire Capt. Nathan Frankhauser said. During the weekend, the Los Banos Police Department took several vandalism reports in areas around the city, police said on Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. The suspect was captured on a video surveillance system as he committed the vandalism, police said. If you can identify him, police ask you to call the police department at 209-827-7070.
