Modesto police arrested one woman Wednesday morning and were looking for a man they believe were involved in an auto theft near downtown Modesto. Officers responded to a report of two suspicious people stealing tires off one of two vehicles parked in the back of a vacant residence in the 500 block of Fifth Street at 7:35 a.m., Sgt. Brian Findlen said. When police arrived, the two took off. The woman was found two houses away hiding under a parked car. Police still were looking for the man. Reyna Vacio, 23, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle, Findlen said. The two vehicles -- a Honda Ridgeline truck and a Chevrolet subcompact car -- were reported stolen over the weekend from an auto repossession business on Eighth Street, Findlen said.
