Police are investigating two shootings in which both victims are expected to recover. In the first one, officers were called to a Modesto hospital about 11:35 p.m. Friday after a 23-year-old Modesto man showed up with a gunshot wound, said Lt. Andy Schlenker. The man said he was a passenger in a car at Paradise Road and Wade Avenue when he suddenly felt pain in his back and neck. He realized he had been shot and was driven to a hospital, Schlenker said. "Based on initial indicators, it may be gang-related," Schlenker said. The second shooting happened about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Paradise Road, near First Street. A 16-year-old boy was walking on Paradise when he heard two gunshots and felt pain in his back, Schlenker said. The boy ran and called his mother, who took him to the hospital. Schlenker said the teen suffered a grazing wound. "He said he has no idea why anyone would shoot at him," Schlenker said.
