Two teens have been arrested in the vandalizing of at least seven cars Wednesday morning in a northeast Modesto neighborhood, causing several thousand dollars in damage, police said Thursday.
Modesto resident Jacob Barnes, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, also from Modesto, were arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism, according to a news release.
The vandalism occurred about 4:35 a.m. in the area of Bridgewood Way, Kona Oak Drive and Carson Oak Drive, just west of Oakdale Road and north of Sylvan Avenue, police said.
A resident was leaving for work when he saw three men in their late teens to early 20s vandalizing vehicles, police said.
The suspects were last seen in an older-model orange car that appeared to be a Datsun 280Z or similar vehicle. About 8 p.m. Wednesday, police spotted a Datsun 280Z parked in front of a home in the 2000 block of Bridgewood Way.
Several people were detained at the home, and two suspects were arrested, police reported. The damage consisted of broken windows, mirrors and dents. The damage is believed to have been caused by large rocks and kicking doors and fenders.
