Police arrested two men Tuesday night on suspicion of felony vandalism near downtown Modesto, and credited an alert witness with tipping them off.
The witness called police after spotting two men scratching or etching at least 20 windows of a building in the 700 block of I Street, according to Sgt. Brian Findlen, a spokesman for the Modesto Police Department.
The two men got in a red four-door Toyota and drove toward the transit center near downtown Modesto. About three minutes later, police stopped a car matching that description at McHenry Avenue and Needham Street.
Arrested were Robert Anglin, 22, of Modesto, and Cameron Campbell, 19, of Tracy. They were booked on a charge of felony vandalism.
