Snow in Modesto?
It could happen on Monday, the National Weather Service reported on Sunday.
In issuing a winter storm warning from Monday at 4 a.m. to noon, the weather service predicted that snow could come as low as near sea level, possibly beginning Monday morning and continuing through the day before tapering off in the evening.
It's possible that one to four inches could fall during the midday hours, with more expected in the eastern foothills.
Never miss a local story.
Temperatures Monday are expected to be in the 20s and low 30s throughout the Central Valley and the mid-20s in the foothills.
It did caution that there is some uncertainty regarding this "develping weather situation" and that more updates could be issued throughout the day.
A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring, the weather service says on its Web site. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous.
Only travel in an emergency.
Tuesday is expected to be a tad colder.
