After reading the letter about concealed weapons permits in Stanislaus County ("Citizens can't protect themselves," Dec. 22), I wanted to voice that I, too, was turned down for a carry permit because I did not have a good enough reason.
I believe the Constitution gives me the right; and if I apply, jump through the hoops and pay the $108, I should get a permit if I am a law-abiding citizen with no record.
As I see it, there is one person who decides if you should get a carry permit, and that person alone, depending on their daily mood, can issue or decline your application and the law prevents you from applying again for one year. There are no re-do's and no discussions. If there is anyone who can help, I am sure you get a large following.
