By unanimous vote, Stanislaus County supervisors Tuesday:
Accepted a final design for an $8.2 million animal shelter that will include a private, discount sterilization clinic
Agreed to apply for a state and federal grant increasing probation supervision of 136 felony drunken driving offenders
Approved a six-month, $42,000 contract for sheriff's deputies to patrol Turlock Irrigation District canals
Using eminent domain, seized a parcel needed to widen Kiernan Avenue north of Modesto. This is the 23rd strip of property taken for the project.
Abandoned an undeveloped portion of D Street in Empire, north of Yosemite Boulevard at C Street. The property was deeded to the county to facilitate laying Modesto & Empire Traction Co. railroad tracks. Modesto needs control of the land to renovate a water well.
Approved a policy for destroying electronic data
