California schoolchildren are trying to jump into Guinness World Records. Tens of thousands of students at hundreds of schools tried to break the record Monday morning for the most people skipping rope at the same time.
The effort was sponsored by the California Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance as well as Jamba Juice.
Stanislaus County schools participating in the 10-minute event included: Modesto Christian, Modesto; Hart Ransom, Modesto; Vaughn Elementary, Ceres; Keyes to Learning Charter School; La Grange Elementary; Aspire University Charter, Modesto; Von Renner Elementary, Newman; Agnes Baptist Elementary, Modesto; Las Palmas Elementary, Patterson; Rose Avenue and Sonoma elementary schools, Modesto; Walnut Elementary, Turlock; Lucille Whitehead Intermediate, Waterford; and Waterford Middle School.
The record was set by Australia, with 59,000 jumpers. The results from California’s effort still have to be certified by London-based Guinness.
