Police have arrested a suspect in the early Sunday shooting of a 22-year-old man in southwest Modesto. The victim underwent surgery at a Modesto hospital and was listed in stable condition Sunday evening.
The shooting was reported at 12:15 a.m. in the 1600 block of St. Charlotte Lane, Lt. Ron Cloward said, adding that the man was shot outside a residence.
About 5:30 p.m., officers arrested a suspect during a traffic stop near Mark Twain Park.
Sgt. Rick Armendariz, a police spokesman, identified the suspect as 19-year-old Modesto resident Marco Antonio Alcala. He said Alcala was booked at the jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.
Detectives continue to look for at least one more person.
