A break in the showers this afternoon is expected to give way to more wet weather possibly tonight and into the morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Modesto residents, drying off from the sixth-wettest January/February rainfall totals in 41 years, received another 0.20 inches today, according to the Modesto Irrigation District.
The MID keeps rainfall totals in downtown, and have been recording them since the 1888-89 season.
The 0.17 inches Modesto received on Saturday, along with today's showers, pushed the season total to 12.49 inches, a little more than a quarter-inch over the seasonal average.
Never miss a local story.
Downtown Modesto received 4.71 inches in January, and combined with February, had 8.45 inches. While sixth best for the January/February two-month total, it was well behind the 13.56 in January/February 1998.
A colder system is expected to move into the area tonight and bring showers tonight and rain in the morning, the weather service reported.
Another system is expected to move in later this week.
